Job Description
Successful candidates will be expected to perform the following tasks one at a time or simultaneously.
All items sorted in the warehouse have ID numbers, and you will be expected to track them using their assigned numbers as quickly as possible.
Items brought into the warehouse will be assigned numbers and filed in the logbooks to be provided by your employer. You and other work colleagues will be asked to place the items in their appropriate sections.
Packaging items is another responsibility you will be asked to carry out. Items must be wrapped and packaged in their appropriate wrappers or boxes.
Checking and confirmation are very important to identify items that have been filed against the appropriate inventory. The items must reflect the appropriate label, count, and numbers.
All items scheduled for shipping for each day must be brought to the designated staging area. The staging area is mostly within the facility, but in cases where it is at an external location, you will be expected to see they are transported to the designated point.
Organizing the work area to ensure that workflow is not impeded is vital. This may include clearing the staging, stacking, and packaging area of debris and/or obstructive objects, assembling work tools and fixtures in their appropriate positions, ensuring that logbooks and other vital records are in order, among other responsibilities.
Tracking down items with RF scanners and digital devices is also part of the job description. These tools will be provided by the employer to enable you to perform your searches quickly.
Qualifications
Successful candidates should have basic reading and writing skills. Having at least a High school Diploma is a huge plus. Here are other qualifications to take note of.
This job required a lot of heavy lifting. You must be able to carry up to 50lbs of items daily. For heavier items, lifting equipment will be made available by the employer
You must have a little experience in inventory documentation. Filling items under appropriate columns without making mistakes is one of the core aspects of working in a shipping facility.
Handling equipment like forklift and other work equipment is a huge plus and attracts extra bonuses. For specialist equipment, you will have to show certification to qualify.
You must be good at multi-tasking as there will be occasions when you are asked to handle dual roles simultaneously. Working independently without supervision and working with a team is also welcome.
